Helped with my grandmother’s LPA. Great service and even visited on a weekend because of my work schedule.

An LPA is a legal document that lets you choose someone you trust — known as your "attorney" — to make decisions on your behalf if you ever lose the mental capacity to make them yourself. There are two types: one covering your Property & Financial Affairs (paying bills, managing your home, dealing with your bank), and one covering your Health & Welfare (medical treatment, care arrangements, daily routine). You choose who acts for you, when their authority kicks in, and what they're allowed to decide. We recommend putting both in place — most people who only do one regret it when the other type is needed.
-
In our experience, yes — and we tell every client the same thing. The Property & Financial Affairs LPA is the one most people think of first, because money problems become urgent quickly. But the Health & Welfare LPA is just as important: without it, decisions about your care and treatment can fall to people who don't know your wishes, or get tied up in court applications that take months and cost thousands. Setting up both at the same time costs you the same as setting up one later — so doing them together is genuinely the cheaper, simpler option.
-
From the moment we meet you, your documents are drafted and ready to sign within seven days. After signing, the LPA still needs to be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG), which currently takes around 8–10 weeks (this is the OPG's processing time, not ours — and it's the same wait whoever drafts your LPA). For Wills, there's no registration step, so once it's signed and witnessed, it's legally valid straight away. We handle every step of the LPA submission so you don't have to chase anyone.

We are not a firm of solicitors, and we're upfront about that — because for LPAs and basic Wills, you don't need one. Our founder holds a Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and the Legal Practice Course (LPC) — the same academic qualifications a solicitor completes — plus accredited training in Assessing Mental Capacity, which is specifically what this work requires. By focusing exclusively on this area of law rather than running a general legal practice, we keep costs down, turnaround times short, and attention high. If your situation needs something we can't help with — a contested estate, a complex trust, anything outside straightforward LPAs and basic Wills — we'll tell you honestly and point you to a solicitor who can.
-
Two reasons, and neither involves cutting corners. First, we don't carry the overhead of a high-street firm — no city-centre office, no large support team, no need to charge by the hour. Second, we only do this work, all day, every day. That focus means each LPA or Will takes us a fraction of the time it takes a generalist who handles everything from divorce to conveyancing. We pass that efficiency on as a fixed fee. The documents themselves are drafted to the same legal standard — they're prepared and registered exactly as a solicitor would do, by someone with the qualifications to do it properly.
-
Yes — across Nottingham and the wider East Midlands, home visits are part of the service at no extra cost. There's no mileage charge, no minimum booking, no surprise fee on your final invoice. We'll typically meet you twice: once to take instructions and explain everything, and once for signing and witnessing. If you're outside our usual area but would still like us to come to you, get in touch and we'll have an honest conversation about it. If you'd rather meet remotely, we do that too — by video call, phone, or a mix of both. Whichever suits you.
